Robot: A Highly Useful Invention
One of the most fascinating as
well as the most popular modern inventions of science is the
robot. And, it has every reason to be as well, given its
potential in the present and also the future. Robots are no
longer characters from some futuristic fantasy novel. They are
now a firm part of our reality. With scientific evolution, the
evolution of the robots is also inevitable with the promise of
becoming a permanent fixture in our homes in the very near
future.
So what exactly is a robot?
The robot is usually defined as a mechanical or artificial or
even virtual agent. The electromechanical system which drives
it makes it appear to have its own intent or agency simply
through the movements and the basic look of the robot. The term
can refer to both physical robots and also virtual software
agents. The latter robots are often referred to as bots to
differentiate between the two.
The robots have some specific
properties by which they can be identified. One of the most
obvious factors is the robots are artificially made, and do not
occur naturally. It is created in such a way that it can sense,
interact or manipulate with things in the environment. It also
comes with a certain amount of intelligence which allows it to
take particular decisions based on the environment as well as
the automatic control and the preprogrammed
sequence.
The robot, like the most of
technology, is also programmable. The robotic movements occur
with one or more axes of translation or rotation. It also makes
dexterous and coordinated movements, and also appears to have a
mind of its own. Humanoid robots are also available these days,
and perform like the humans.
Robots are being used
extensively in many different fields. This includes military,
space exploration programs and also hauling and transportation
concerns. They also have medical applications and are used in
most mechanized industries. With the great demand for the
robots, many different types have been invented in the recent
years.
So, robot technology is here to stay. With scientific
evolution, it, too, is constantly evolving. It will, indeed,
become an indispensable part of society in the near
future.
